Service Integration Modules On Line

By clicking on the links below you can access the three service integration modules.

These pages are still under construction to improve the look of the modules for you.

The modules are not yet full screen but work is underway to make them larger.  Using an option in your browser you can zoom in and this will make them bigger (or if using a small screen make them smaller) on your own screen.

Work is also being done on the modules themselves to address navigation requests as they are heard.

TAKE THE PLEDGE FOR Not Myself Today Campaign

submitted by Kevin Kapler, Executive Director, Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville

Show your support for your own mental health, and for those living with mental health problems and illnesses.

Visit http://www.notmyselftoday.ca and take the pledge today!

·       We have all had days when we didn’t feel like ourselves. Maybe we’ve felt anxious, stressed or even depressed. Paying attention to those feelings is part of dealing with our own mental health.

·       Now imagine living with those feelings not just one day but many days (and those feelings amplified many times over) and living with the shame, discrimination and lack of treatment and support that goes with it. That is what many Canadians living with mental health problems and illnesses face every day.

·       In fact, seven million Canadians will experience a mental health problem or illness this year; that is one in five Canadians.

·       Mental health problems and illness touches everyone and it is important that we take care of it personally, and at a community and societal level.

·       Today, there are serious gaps in access to treatment, support, funding, research and understanding of mental health and mental illness in Canada. Stigma and discrimination are commonplace. Many who need help are too afraid to reach out due to the stigma.  Others reach out but face considerable challenges finding the help they need when they need it.

·       You can help change that.  With your help, we can transform the way Canadians of all ages think about, and act towards people living with a mental health problem or illness. As individuals, we can take actions that lead to unprecedented improvements in mental health services, mental health funding and the mental well-being of all Canadians.

·       Together, we can create a new state of mind in Canada.

·       How can you help? It’s easy.  First, take the pledge of support by visiting www.notmyselftoday.ca.

·       By taking the pledge, you are:
Showing support, compassion and solidarity for those that have lived or are living with mental health problems or illness
Acknowledging that mental health is an important issue that needs greater attention and action at an individual, community, provincial and national level
Determining what you will do to effect change and live your pledge.

·       By visiting www.notmyselftoday.ca, you will also be able to learn more about the issues and share your personal stories about mental health as well as view/hear/read others’ stories.

Do Want to Build an Inventory of Bullying Intervention Resources?

There are many resources available to those who serve our kids.

PREVNet is a national network of Canadian researchers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and governments committed to stop bullying. Bullying is wrong and hurtful. Every child and youth has the right to be safe and free from involvement in bullying. It affects children and youth who are bullied, those who bully others, and those who know it is going on.  Items from this PREVNet site are available to parents and kids through links from this site.

If you would like a page set up to share resources across our membership please submit your suggestions in the REPLY box below.  If a growing number of suggestions are made a page dedicated to this will be set up.

COMMUNITY CALENDAR NOW AVAILABLE

Wouldn’t it be great to know what events are being planned so as to avoid having multiple valuable events on the same day?

It has been a long standing hope of many to have a shared calendar on line. The calendar on the main menu of this site now makes this a reality.  Events can be entered by each member as they are planned or being planned.

To do this your organization simply needs to assign entry of events to a staff member who will be given a login and password. Entry is easy.  You can enter events to which others are invited and also enter dates when your staff, because of internally scheduled events, is unavailable for a community event.

Organization administrators are asked to provide Keith at markee@sympatico.ca with the name and email address of one (or more) staff members who will then be given the login they need as well as a simple set of instructions.

Together we can make this a very valuable tool for planning and collaboration!
